Open Day at 89.9 TheLight was such a success, the station is already planning its next one.
Melbourne’s Christian community radio station 89.9 TheLight welcomed over 1,000 listeners on site last Saturday, October 28, for its first Open Day in more than a decade.
Visitors enjoyed behind-the-scenes studio tours inside as well as family fun activities outside, including the opportunity to meet and take photos with all the on- air teams.
Breakfast host Lucy Holmes said connecting with listeners was the best part of her job.
“Normally that’s just on-air but Open Day meant we could meet so many of TheLight family face to face, hug each other, and share stories,” she said.
The event was the station’s first Open Day held since 2012 and after the success of Saturday, they now plan to hold them on a regular basis.
“As a community broadcaster, our supporters make the station what it is,” said Clayton Bjelan, CEO of PositiveMedia. “Here at TheLight, we call our listeners TheLight Family and Open Day is a wonderful family day celebrating what we have built together”.
89.9 TheLight began full-time broadcasting in 2002 and has grown to become one of Australia’s largest community radio stations, reaching almost 800,000 monthly listeners.
