CMAA Members to Headline National Easter TV Special

Bible League and Vision Christian Media will feature in a National TV Special which will be broadcast over the Easter long weekend.

The Easter special is part of a weekly TV program called Helping Hands, which is produced by CMAA member the Australian Television and Media Group, led by Executive Producer, Richard Attieh, and broadcast across the Nine Network and GOOD every week.

You can watch the Easter Special of Helping Hands at the following times:

  • 9GEM – Saturday 19 April at 10am
  • Channel 9 – Easter Sunday 20 April at 5.30am
  • 9Now – on demand after broadcast
  • GOOD – Easter Monday 21 April at 7pm
  • GOOD – on demand after broadcast

The TV special will showcase Vision Christian Media and the important role Christian radio plays in the lives of people across Australia, enabling listeners to be entertained with inspiring content, connected to a larger Christian community, and encouraged in their faith.

“We tell the story of a Vision radio listener, Alison Gray,” says Richard Attieh.  “Alison is a farmer on a remote property in rural Queensland and starts every day with Vision Worship before tuning into the Rise & Shine breakfast program with Fel and Andy.”

Looking after 7000 acres, over 200 head of cattle, horses, chickens, dogs, equipment and everything else that goes with farming, Alison’s days are busy from sun-up to sun-down.

“As soon as I’m locking into Vision radio or Vision Worship, it’s been really encouraging … I’m part of a bigger community,” says Alison in the documentary.  “They would be more than friends, they’re family.”

Richard continues, “I was thrilled when Vision came on board for the Easter special. They allowed us to talk about the Christian faith through our secular program in a way that is relevant and meaningful to our non-Christian audiences over the Easter weekend.”

“In addition to producing a 10-minute television documentary for national broadcast on a secular media outlet, we also produce a 500-word print article which will be made available to all CMAA members via the CMAA Digital Hub, provide and publish loads of promotional social media content, produce a media engagement campaign, and do whatever is necessary to spread the message far and wide.”

Bible League will also feature on the Easter special of Helping Hands, profiling the Plain English Version (PEV) of the Bible. The PEV Bible is an English translation designed for Indigenous Australians whose mother tongue is an Aboriginal language.

The PEV Bible and Bible League’s excerpt of the Easter Story take centre stage.

Bible League’s documentary follows indigenous evangelist, Laurel Pabai, who returns home for the first time in 20 years to connect with country, community and culture, and to share the Easter story with her family and friends.

“We travelled to the northernmost tip of Australia, Boigu Island in the Torres Strait, with Bible League and Laurel, to film this story,” says Richard. “Bible League takes viewers deep into indigenous culture to see how easy it is for indigenous Australians to use the PEV and understand the Easter story.”

The PEV Bible is a work in progress, with 24 Books of the Bible translated so far, including the Easter story.

“This is a cultural story like no other,” said Richard, “and shows how important it is to present the Christian message and the Bible to people in a way that is accessible and easy to understand.”

Bible League is also making its PEV translation of the Easter story available for free to all ministries, evangelists, media outlets and organisations who would like to use and distribute God’s word in plain English.

“We have now produced over 100 episodes of Helping Hands and generated over $3.7million of exposure for social good over the past 2 years, and I am excited to be able to share this with Vision Christian Media and Bible League this year,” said Richard.
