During times of natural disaster, community radio has always played a key role in helping people stay informed and keeping listeners company during what can be a stressful and traumatic time.
Last weekend the team at 99.9 Live FM in Townsville played a key role in being there for listeners as the Ross River floods impacted the community and many residents had to evacuate.
Presenters were on air around the clock throughout the weekend and into Monday, providing up-to-date information and a shining light of encouragement and hope, chatting with listeners about their experiences and how they were feeling/coping.
