Strengthening the Spiritual Heart of Our Sector: CMAA’s Prayer Strategy

In a sector that carries stories, shapes culture, and serves audiences across Australia and beyond, prayer is not an optional extra, it is foundational. As CMAA continues its mission to advance Christian media and the arts, strengthen practitioners, and grow our collective influence for good, we are deepening our commitment to the spiritual wellbeing of our community through a renewed, sector-wide prayer strategy.

This strategy is simple, sustainable, and intentionally woven into the rhythms of creative and ministry life. It anchors our sector in Scripture, unity, and dependence on God as we create, lead, and serve.

A Shared Rhythm of Prayer

At the centre of the prayer strategy is a focus on a shared prayer theme, drawn directly from CMAA’s new suite of YouVersion devotional plans. These themes give our sector a common spiritual focus throughout the year. So far, we have published three devotional plans this year: Return & Realign, Hope for the Weary and Empowered to Create. In the coming months, we’ll be publishing devotional plans on rest, justice, unity, excellence, and Advent.

These themes give our community a common focus, shaping how we pray in our teams, workplaces, and in our personal prayer. The devotional plans are designed to be used personally, in teams, or shared with audiences; helping more people develop a daily pattern of meeting God in prayer.

Each month, the theme will flow through:

·      A sector-wide Prayer Zoom

A simple, consistent space where members gather to pray for one another, our organisations, and the work God is doing across media and the arts.

·      A rolling prayer schedule for member organisations

Every CMAA member is intentionally prayed for throughout the year, supported by a structured calendar and follow‑up rhythm.

·      Prayer content across digital channels

Including Scripture posts, links to YouVersion devotional plans, and guided prayers aligned with the current theme.

Together, these practices help cultivate a shared spiritual heartbeat across the sector.

Prayer That Shapes Culture

Prayer is not just a spiritual discipline; it is a cultural one. It shapes how we lead, collaborate, create, and serve. It strengthens unity. It softens hearts. It keeps us aligned with God’s purposes in a fast‑moving, high‑impact industry.

We can’t make Jesus known until we know Jesus.

This is the heart of CMAA’s prayer strategy:

·      to help our sector flourish spiritually, not just operationally;

·      to support the people behind the work;

·      and to ensure everything we create flows from a place of prayerful dependence on God.

How You Can Get Involved
