Samaritan’s Purse a Lifeline to Refugees from Ukraine

Samaritan's Purse is actively supporting many thousands of Ukrainian refugees worldwide.

As Australia marks Refugee Week, the Christian charity Samaritan’s Purse is highlighting its long-term work to support Ukrainians displaced by conflict.

In 18 countries from Portugal to Poland, Sweden to Spain, Samaritan’s Purse and its partners have assisted over 250,000 Ukrainians displaced by the war. Refugees have found safe places to call home—many of them hosted by local families connected to their partners.

Samaritan’s Purse continues to fill the gap for its partner organisation, covering expenses like increased utility and grocery bills, as well as assisting with rent costs for refugees who have been set up in their own living situations.

Two such partners in Poland, being supported by Samaritan’s Purse Australia and New Zealand, are Nysa Pentecostal Church in Nysa, and Good Works’ Mission Centre in Warsaw.

For the past 12 months, Nysa Pentecostal Church in Poland has assisted over 700 refugees by providing vouchers for food and clothing, and rental assistance.

The church continues to address the basic needs of refugees such as shelter and food. Polish language classes are organised for those who are able to learn, in turn giving them better opportunities to find work.

In Warsaw, the Good Works’ Mission Centre provides over 200 meals per day, five days a week to meet the needs of Ukrainian refugees. The centre is also providing clothing and hygiene items. Over 12,000 meals have been provided to date.

These are the kind of organisations that will benefit when you make a donation towards the work Samaritan’s Purse is doing for refugees from Ukraine.

Over 90 percent of those seeking refuge from Ukraine are women and children.
