Mike Guglielmucci has opened up about his journey of faith, mental health struggles and recovery, in special podcast episode.
Mike Guglielmucci is a name well known in Australian Christian circles, being a former high profile worship singer, youth preacher and songwriter with Planetshakers, who penned the worship song Healer - before a very public fall in 2008.
15 years on, Mike has opened up about his journey of faith, mental health struggles and recovery, in special episode of the podcast Songs That Changed You hosted by LifeFM’s Aiden Grant.
In the episode, he talks about his past mistakes, his time in rehab and what life looks like now.
“I lived 28 years in the dark,” he said in the interview. “I lived 28 years with superficial relationships and friendships. People focus on 2008 and the moment that an element of the brokenness of my life became public - but the journey was a lot longer and a lot deeper and a lot darker.
“But when you have revelation of God’s love, who meets us in our brokenness, I’ve got no reason to hide.”
The format of the podcast features each guest talking about a song that has had a profound impact on their life and faith. Mike chose You Are My Strength, a worship song by Hillson’s Ruben Morgan, which Mike says he had on repeat while going through rehab. The song was part of the journey that got him to where he is today.
Mike and his family now run a Light House City Mission, providing food, clothing and community or support for people in need in the Port Adelaide area.
Songs That Changed You can be heard each week on Life FM in Adelaide, on Vison Christian Radio across the country and it is also available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
