Line Manager: Secretary of the Church
Employment: Permanent 0.8FTE – 1.0FTE. Full-time or part-time (negotiable).
Location: Churchwide Office, Lutheran Church of Australia and New Zealand (LCANZ), Adelaide
Lutheran Media seeks a creative and strategic Manager to lead its mission of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through media that connects with people across Australia and New Zealand.
You will oversee vision, operations and communication strategy, guide a small team and collaborate with church leaders, media professionals and partners. Responsibilities include leadership, content creation across broadcast, digital, print and social platforms, managing budgets and donor relationships and building partnerships with congregations and Christian networks.

Objectives of position
This position:
- Strategises, manages, implements and grows an effective, Christ-centred, outreach media ministry;
- Connects with various partners in mission to provide relevant and innovative outreach media content for the wider Australian and New Zealander people and for Christian communities to increase the reach of the gospel of Jesus Christ; and
- Manages funding and resources.
Primary responsibilities
This position
- Ensures the development and implementation of a vision for Lutheran Media;
- Oversees the production and distribution of Christian media outreach content to extend the reach of the gospel of Jesus Christ
- Develops the ministry and its capacities to maximise its operation and effectiveness;
- Oversees the people and resources of Lutheran Media
Duties of Position
- Develops and implements the vision for Lutheran Media by:
a. Identifying, in consultation with the Board and stakeholders, a mission-focused vision for Lutheran Media
b. Translating the vision into operational plans
c. Articulating for stakeholders and staff how the vision is to be achieved
d. Using the vision to guide self and others in decision-making. - Media content is effectively managed to extend the communication of the gospel of Jesus Christ, by:
a. Developing new media content to reach the people of Australia and New Zealand including partnering with congregations to assist with their media outreach needs
b. Distributing current content effectively
c. Reviewing and evaluating current content offerings
d. Liaising with congregations, media partners and others to ensure optimum coverage for content in the community
e. Seeking feedback on content to inform further content development. - Lutheran Media is effectively resourced to maximise its operations, by:
a. Promoting Lutheran Media throughout the LCANZ and beyond
b. Soliciting funds through donations, legacies, grants and other appropriate mediums
c. Developing its outreach strategy and services in response to changing needs of congregations and communities
d. Developing strategic stakeholder relationships and partnerships that support Lutheran Media’s operations
e. Recruiting and developing a pool of volunteers, as required. - People and other resources are effectively managed, through:
a. Working collaboratively as a Lutheran media team
b. Developing staff, and volunteer, skills
c. Collaborating with other teams and agencies of the LCANZ, as appropriate
d. Managing the finances and budgeting process of Lutheran Media.
Required qualifications, skills and qualities
a. Relevant industry experience in media and/or business management
b. Commitment to the Lutheran Church of Australia and New Zealand
c. Understanding of Christian mission in the context of Australian and New Zealander societies
d. Ability to model and promote a missional culture
e. High level oral and written communication skills
f. High level presentation skills, suitable for a variety of audiences
g. Ability to lead others and the Lutheran Media ministry
h. Strategic and analytical thinking.
Desired qualifications, skills and qualities
a. Worshipping member of the Lutheran Church of Australia and New Zealand
b. A relevant qualification in theology/ministry
c. A relevant qualification in media and/or management
d. Marketing flair
e. Entrepreneurial mindset
f. Financial management experience
g. Experience in supervising staff and volunteers
General terms of appointment
a. Willing to work in a Christian environment and uphold the values and teachings of the Lutheran Church of Australia and New Zealand
b. Agree to abide by all Lutheran Media and LCANZ policies and procedures as applicable
c. Observe and comply with Lutheran Media and LCANZ Work, Health & Welfare policies and procedures
d. Ability to travel
e. Ability to work out of business hours, when applicable
f. A position review will be conducted annually and a 360 review, or equivalent, will be conducted as determined
