Christian Media Helps Feed Over 170,000 Vulnerable Children

Stations around the country rallied their audiences, who responded passionately towards Take Away Hunger Day on Aug 21.

Australia's Christian broadcasters joined forces on August 21, appealing to listeners on-air and online, to give gifts of just $6, to help refugee children in Uganda.

For children living in Uganda's refugee settlements, hunger is a daily battle. These children, are some of the world's most vulnerable, having fled violence in South Sudan, they now struggle to survive.

By providing a daily meal in school-based programs. Each $6 donation feeds a hungry child at school for an entire month.

This strategy means children don’t have to worry about their next meal anymore, and no longer have to choose between school and food. It means they can be children again, and ensures they are able to get an education, which means a brighter future.

On Take Away Hunger Day listeners joined their local Radio Station in changing the lives of hungry refugee children in Uganda.

And together, we've fed more more than 170,000 children for a month.

The enthusiasm, passion and creativity of station staff and volunteers was truly inspiring as they promoted the need with great sincerity and heart. It was a true testament to the partnership and collaboration within our sector, as stations  united together for this powerful call to action.

Many thanks to all the hard work, long hours and dedication of every team member, for your eagerness to see your audience respond to these children's immediate needs, and fully understanding the difference a meal makes to a hungry child.
