Signing Off After 30 Years Amplifying the Good News
After more than three decades of faithful service, Ian Worby has wrapped up his full-time role with Vision Christian Media, marking the end of an era that helped shape Christian broadcasting across Australia and beyond.
Ian’s journey didn’t begin in boardrooms or big studios. It started at the grassroots level, with a small community station on the Mid North Coast and a group of people willing to back a vision. What followed was years of persistence, prayer, and plenty of practical hard work, laying foundations that would carry far beyond those early days.
From humble beginnings in a three-bedroom cottage to a national network now reaching hundreds of communities, Ian played a key role in helping Vision Christian Radio grow into a trusted voice of encouragement and hope. Along the way, he helped navigate seasons of both challenge and remarkable provision, with plenty of memorable moments when listeners rallied to support the ministry when it mattered most.
But Ian’s influence didn’t stop at Australia’s shores.
Through his leadership with UCB Asia Pacific, he invested in emerging Christian media ministries across the region, quietly strengthening local voices in places like Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Indonesia and beyond. His work helped equip others to share the same message of hope in their own communities- and most powerfully- in their own language.
People who’ve worked alongside Ian will tell you his leadership has always been grounded, steady, and deeply committed to the mission, never driven by the spotlight, but by purpose.
Phil Edwards, CEO of Vision Christian Media, reflected on Ian’s contribution, saying, “Ian's contribution to Christian media in this country and across our region has been nothing short of foundational. Ian has faithfully lived out a calling that has touched countless lives. We are deeply grateful for his leadership, his resilience, and the legacy he leaves with us.”
Reflecting on his time working in Christian media, Ian said, “It has been a privilege to serve alongside so many gifted and dedicated people over more than 30 years. Mandy and I are deeply thankful for every colleague, volunteer, supporter and partner who shared this journey – in Australia and right across the Asia Pacific. I have every confidence that Vision Christian Media will continue to support and strengthen Christian media ministries in our region, and we remain passionate about this mission.”
While this chapter comes to a close, Ian’s connection with the global UCB family continues through his involvement with UCB International in 2026.
More than 30 years on, the legacy isn’t just in transmitters, stations, or structures. Instead, it’s in the lives reached, the leaders trained and raised, and the message of hope that keeps being transmitted, day after day.
