New PositiveMedia Podcast 'Parental Discretion'

Melbourne, Australia – PositiveMedia, home of 89.9 TheLight, in partnership with Big Kids’ Table, is launching Parental Discretion, a new podcast equipping Christian parents and guardians to have healthy, age-appropriate conversations about sex, relationships, identity and God with their children.

Hosted by Big Kids’ Table founders, Lauren Foster and Georgia Nicholas, the podcast invites parents to reimagine the everyday dinner table as a place where faith, values and meaningful conversations can be shared with the next generation.

With experience in Christian education and youth ministry, Foster and Nicholas developed the podcast in response to a recognised need for more thoughtful, practical resources to support churches and families in conversations about sexuality.

"Christians can really struggle to talk about sex," said Foster. "Too often these conversations never happen, or they're reduced to awkward, one-off talks that leave young people with more questions than answers.

“If Christians aren’t talking about these topics with young people, then our culture is doing it for us."

Season one equips parents to disciple their children around relationships and sex, while the hosts reflect on their own experiences and upbringing. Through honest conversations and practical guidance, the series encourages listeners to build confidence, pursue healing where needed, and foster safe, ongoing dialogue at home and in faith communities.

"You don't need perfect answers," said Nicholas. "You need open hearts, curious minds and a willingness to keep talking."

While grounded in a Christian worldview, Parental Discretion speaks to widely shared parenting challenges, including communication, relationships, identity and resilience, making the series relevant to parents and carers seeking constructive ways to engage their children.

To extend its reach beyond podcast platforms, the series will also air on 89.9 TheLight, Melbourne’s positive and uplifting radio station, bringing these important conversations to more families across the community.
