New Drive Duo Hits the Road at 96five
After what they described as a worldwide search, Brisbane’s 96five has announced that the perfect pair for their Drive Show was right under their nose the whole time.
Long-time listeners will already be familiar with The Iris and Joe Show, a duo who have previously teamed up for seasonal programming like Brissy Chrissy and the Saturday morning show. Now, Iris and Joe are officially stepping into the weekday Drive slot, bringing energy, encouragement and plenty of laughs to Brisbane afternoons from 3pm.
Listeners can expect a feel-good program filled with real conversation, upbeat music and a range of engaging segments such as Rate My Day, Mission Recognition (celebrating everyday legends) and The Carpool Cup, a playful car versus car competition with a twist.
“Every day has the potential to be a good one,” Iris said. “And sometimes it just takes a small moment of encouragement or joy to turn things around.”
Her new co-host Joe agrees, saying he is passionate about helping listeners navigate the tough Brisbane commute.
“If we can help you get through the next set of lights with a smile on your face, then I am all in,” Joe said. “Brisbane feels like one big extended family, and we love being a part of that with you.”
As well as being a great win for the station, the appointment is also an encouraging sign for the wider industry. It showcases the passion, excellence and heart that young broadcasters like Iris and Joe are bringing to radio. Their creativity, connection and commitment to community speak to a strong future for radio done well.
From the school run to traffic jams and post-work wind-downs, 96five’s new Drive show promises to be a welcome companion for listeners across the city.
