Samaritan’s Purse provides emergency relief and development assistance to suffering people around the world and in times of natural disaster locally. Samaritan’s Purse is meeting the physical needs of victims of war, famine, natural disaster, poverty and disease. Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a project of Samaritan’s Purse collects over 200,000 gift filled shoeboxes each year for children in developing countries, demonstrating God’s love and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association was founded in 1950 by the Reverend Billy Graham. The organisation’s ministry engages in numerous evangelistic activities with the purpose of demonstrating God's love and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ through well- developed evangelism and discipleship programs.
The Marketing & Communications Manager role for Samaritan’s Purse and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is a Sydney based role and is part of the Senior Management team for these two global Christian not for profit organisations.
The position is permanent full-time. The organisation provides flexible working locations, subject to work requirements. Salary, including a non-cash benefit, is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
This person leads and develops the marketing and communications team and directs and implements workflow from project creation to on-time delivery of high-quality materials across multiple platforms. This role is critical to informing our supporters about our activities, fundraising and engaging with our donors, and building and sustaining relationships with partner organisations.
The role provides marketing and communications oversight for three ministries: Samaritan’s Purse (SP) which includes Operation Christmas Child (OCC) as a subsidiary and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) for Australia and New Zealand to further the achieving of our mission to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct in accordance with the standards established for all employees of SP, OCC and BGEA.
- Together with the Executive Director and the international headquarters (IHQ) Communications representatives – recommend ministry-specific strategic plans and develop tactical communications projects and fundraising campaigns.
- Ensure the organisation has excellent marketing, fundraising, communications and public relations capabilities, to develop and grow all three ministry organisations, by ensuring that all communications are relevant and meaningful to donors and supporters and particularly targeted to an evangelical Christian audience.
- Manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility is required when job parameters, deadlines, or directions change.
- Ensure ministry communications projects are implemented in a professional, timely manner delegating design and writing for content creation, routing for approvals, and working with internal and external stakeholders and vendors.

Essential:
- Agreement and compliance with the SP, OCC and BGEA Statements of Faith, Mission Statements and policies
- Bachelor-level degree appropriate to the position and minimum 3 years of management experience in a similar role
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, planning and organisational skills
- Experience in print and digital media
- Experience with writing and producing newsletters and donor-centered communications within Christian and social media
- Experience managing department budgets
- Proven ability to lead and manage staff and provide strategic direction
- Experience managing international relationships and approval processes
- Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously within a team environment
- Maintain an active relationship with and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, in order to participate in daily staff prayer and devotions.
- Maintain membership in good standing in a local church.
Desirable:
- Skills in writing, graphic design, social media and WordPress
- Experience in non-profit or Christian ministry organisation
