Let’s Show the Government How Christian Radio is Changing Australia!
For the first time ever, Christian radio across the nation has an incredible chance to demonstrate the life-changing impact of our sector—and send a powerful message to key governing bodies, for more funding.
The Radio & You survey will gather vital information from not only community radio audiences, but also staff, volunteers and sponsors.

The more people who complete the survey, the more data we’ll gather, to get an accurate understanding of the true value of community radio in Australia.
What’s It All About?
Behind the scenes, the Radio & You survey is part of a landmark initiative called the Social Return On Investment (SROI) Research Project. It’s named SROI because it will show the government how THEIR investment in OUR sector is reaping real, tangible benefits for the nation.
It also includes interviews and focus groups - and it’s being conducted by trusted social researchers Think Impact and Compass Polling. Organisations involved include CMAA, the National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcaster’s Council (NEMBC), Disability Media Australia, and First Nations Media Australia. This has all been made possible by a grant from the CBF (Community Broadcasting Foundation), and a private foundation donation made available through CMAA.
We KNOW that 5.13 million Australians listen to community radio weekly—for 17 hours on average. We KNOW this creates connection, and builds vital community. But how does this really impact the nation? Can we measure it, and prove it, in a quantifiable way?
That’s what the SROI Research Project will do.
What’s more, it will align our data with the strategic outcomes of Roadmap 2033… in other words, we’ll be talking the language of key Government bodies, who make the big funding decisions.
The Nuts and Bolts…
What Are We Asking People To Do?
The goal is to get your listeners, sponsors, volunteers and staff, to fill in the Radio & You survey, and share their thoughts about your station.
The survey is open from 19 May to 30 June.
