Jeff Miller brings a lifetime of industry knowledge and experience to CMAA in his roles in advocacy, policy and sector partnerships.

What drew you to this role at CMAA?

I love the Christian media sector, having been involved in some way or the other since 4pm on Saturday 30th January 1988 when I did my first airshift on 98five Sonshine FM in Perth, just a few days after the station launched.

What's something unexpected you’ve learnt working in the Christian Media & Arts sector?

Two things come to mind. First, is that many people choose to consume Christian media and yet do not necessarily consider themselves Christian -- they love it for the values and positivity. The second is, community radio has a challenging revenue proposition. Christian radio stations need to encourage their listeners to pay for what they otherwise listen to for nothing. I think this makes makes Christian radio (and other listener-supported media) unique. It compels us to remain close to our listeners and to serve their interests which is the heart of what we do.

If you could host a podcast, on any topic you like, what would it be about?

A podcast that delves into the way successful people got their first, and subsequent, breaks and how pivotal that moment was in their life.

What are you currently reading?

'Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story' by Bono.

…listening to?

I'm loving some favorite 1980s and 1990s music I have in a playlist which I have been listening to a lot lately, particularly while I drive and exercise.

…watching?

This is a bit embarrassing...I'm enjoying some old Whodunnit episodes from the 1970s. The shows (not the murder) remind me of my childhood.

What’s something people would be surprised to know about you?

I love magicians and I have visited Las Vegas several times to see some icons of magic...Lance Burton, Penn & Teller, etc.

What’s something you still want to tick off your bucket list?

I think I have one book in me. I have no idea yet what the book will be about, but would like to write at least one in my life.
