“Every Human Has a Powerful Story to Share” – Danielle McAlpine Johnson
Filmmaker and documentarian Danielle Mcalpine Johnson has a passion for bringing people’s stories to the screen.
Her production company, Cheeky Mac Productions is known for programs like Beyond the Fire, a documentary series following some of the quiet heroes in the aftermath of the Australian Black Summer bushfire crisis.
“We work very much so in the social justice landscape where obviously there’s such incredible pain and so many horrific things happening in the world,” she said. “But we have an opportunity to share those stories through a lens of hope, and also to shine a light on solutions of how humanity can come together and really make a difference in these spaces.”
Danielle says that it is often in the storytelling process itself, where people find hope.
“I believe that when we give people permission to share the truth of their story without anybody else coming in and interjecting and interweaving their experience into it, it actually gives opportunity for real healing to take place,” she said.
“Often it's not about the end product that God is so focused on. Sometimes it's the journey, the storytelling journey and the process of making the film where he really, really works in the heart of all involved.”
