New Worship Music Movement: CXMMXNS

In a season when many church-based worship artists have been launching out with their own music projects, Reuben Morgan and Ben Fielding have united to form CXMMONS (pronounced commons) – a “collaborative worship movement” designed to serve the ‘capital-c Church’ with fresh songs for everyone, grounded in scripture.

The two Grammy and Dove award winning songwriters, best known for their work with Hillsong Church, are the writers behind some of the best-known worship anthems sung by tens of millions in the church today, such as: Who You Say I Am, What A Beautiful Name, Cornerstone, Mighty To Save, and Goodness of God to name just a few.

CXMMXNS aims to become a major contributor to the modern worship canon.

Its debut release, CXMMXNS Chapter 1, drops on November 8 and features both new and familiar voices, singing songs penned by some of the world’s most respected gospel music writers.

Birthed in Sydney, Australia, CXMMXNS is committed to gathering worshippers worldwide and serving local churches with songs that unite believers around our common focus, Jesus Christ.

In a social media post, Ben and Reuben explain the use of the letter 'X' in place of 'O'.

"X is the Greek letter 'chi' and the first letter of the word from which we derive the English word, 'Christ'. For early Christians, X became a shorthand reference to Christ. So when we write CXMMXNS, it is a statement that most importantly, we have Christ in common.

"We may have our differences, but Christians everywhere can agree on the centrality of Jesus, in our faith and in our worship."

The pair hope to build a community around the cause of worship, with live events to come in the future.

CXMMXNS is signed with Provident Music (Sony) in the USA. To resource the church with a consistent flow of new music, they will be releasing singles and EPs frequently throughout the year - instead of following the traditional model of a full album launch every two years.
