Convoy of Hope Responds as Bushfires Rage Across Victoria
Bushfires continue to burn across Victoria, leaving families and communities facing displacement, loss, and uncertainty. Homes have been destroyed, residents have been forced to flee at short notice, and firefighters remain on the front lines, working around the clock to protect lives and property.
In response, Christian disaster relief organisation Convoy of Hope has begun mobilising support for communities affected across the state. Through local partners, Convoy of Hope is already assisting people forced from their homes and preparing further aid as the situation unfolds.
“Our hearts are with every family affected by these fires, and with the CFA volunteers and others who are working tirelessly to protect lives and communities,” said Joel A’Bell, National Director of Convoy of Hope Australia and New Zealand. “We’re asking people across Australia to join us in prayer, and to stand with their neighbours in practical ways.”
Convoy of Hope is currently partnering with local organisations in four fire-affected communities and is helping provide emergency accommodation through the Airbnb Emergency Accommodation Program. Plans are also underway to deliver essential relief supplies, including hygiene kits, basic necessities, and cleanup materials.
“Moments like this bring fear and uncertainty, but they also remind us of the power of compassion,” Mr A’Bell said. “As a Christian organisation, we believe prayer and action go hand in hand, and we’re committed to walking alongside these communities for as long as it takes.”
“We are deeply grateful to our media partners who are helping share updates, call people to prayer, and highlight the response,” Mr A’Bell added. “Together, we can bring hope and practical help in the midst of crisis.”
