The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity for an experienced broadcast journalist to work occasional casual shifts producing and presenting radio news bulletins. We are looking for someone who can cover the news in a fair, factual and balanced way, providing the opportunity for a broader range of voices, including a Christian perspective.

The Role Involves:

  • Researching and writing news
  • Identifying suitable sources and conducting interviews
  • Audio editing and scripting of news stories
  • Producing and presenting high quality news bulletins to tight deadlines
  • Representing the company in a professional and courteous manner
  • Opportunities may also exist to write website articles for news and current affairs

Casual Shift Details:

  • Occasional casual shifts as needed, between the hours of 4:30am–6:30pm weekdays
  • Available to work shifts at short notice

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field
  • Experience in producing and presenting radio news bulletins
  • Display strong news judgement
  • Demonstrate outstanding presentation skills
  • Have the ability to write accurate and concise radio news stories
  • Work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • Demonstrate initiative and have the capability to seek out and break news  stories
  • Produce excellent work in keeping with high journalistic standards
  • Be a proactive self-starter capable of working independently
  • Be a strong team player
  • Have a firm belief in the mission, vision and values of Hope Media
