ARTIST PROFILE - Tania G
Many Australians will be familiar with Tania G from her appearances on shows such as Good Morning Australia, Channel 9’s Carols by Candlelight and at the Logies with the Melbourne Gospel Choir (MGC), just to name a few!
Music and Performance in Her Blood
Tania has been surrounded by music her whole life. She was raised by parents who met through music in Sri Lanka, where her Mum was a jazz / pop singer, and Dad was in a vocal group in addition to his full time job.
Tania explains, "We were always around music as far back as I can remember. My family and I always sang in the Anglican Church Choir." If they weren't singing hymns in church, they were practicing music in their garage at home.
A Favourite on Christian Radio in Australia
Tania's musical style blends R’n’B, pop and contemporary gospel sounds, and in 2003 Tania independently released her applauded first studio album 'What Really Matters'. Her follow up album 'Lay it All Down' in 2006 had two singles that where in the Top 20 most played songs on contemporary Christian radio in Australia at the time.
Called to be a Light
Tania shares that her main skills and strengths are worship leading, singing and coaching/mentoring others. When Tania reflects on her calling in music she says, "I believe I am called to be a light in some way. I have always felt a two fold calling: to make music that was uplifting and inspiring to people, as well as to help train others and help them to fulfil their calling in music - whatever that looks like for them."
Latest Release: Faithfulness
Tania recently released her latest single titled 'Faithfulness' inspired by the classic hymn, 'Great is Thy Faithfulness'. Tania shares that, "This song reminds us of Gods constant love and presence in our lives even when we can't see it."
With a vision for the future to continue making music that leads people closer to God, Tania is also keen to use her talents and skills to raise up others in the music industry.
Tania believes that being amongst other singers and musicians, working together and being able to share our faith authentically through action and friendship, provides a great opportunity to make a difference in the heart of our nation.
