The FamilyVoice Australia National ‘Mother of the Year Awards’ winners have been announced today.
Greg Bondar, Awards Selection Committee Chairman for the FamilyVoice Australia National ‘Mother of the Year Awards’ has today announced the Winners of the 2021 Awards.
And the Winners are:
Mother of the Year: Leila Abdallah – Sydney NSW
Grandmother of the Year: Anthea Adams – SA
Young Mother of the Year – up to 25 years of age: Adrielle Van Hassel – QLD
Mother of the Year, Sydney woman Lelia Abdallah, and her husband Danny inspired others by forgiving the drunk and drugged driver who killed three of their children in February last year.
"Kids are the biggest joy any parents can have," Lelia said, and has dedicated her award to all women grieving the loss of a child.
The National Mother of the Year Awards were taken on by Christian organisation FamilyVoice Australia this year, after the charity Barnardos ended its association with the award.
These awards were intended by FamilyVoice to:
- honour mothers of families
- highlight the importance mothers’ play in the development of the child
- recognise that mothers make a positive impact at home, work, church and in the family
